Hand in hand with sustainability

With another year under its belt, NAU21 is renewing and intensifying its commitment to the ecosystems around it, not just the corporate ones, but also the environmental, social and global ones. That's why NAU21 continues its active participation in the UN Global Compact, fully aware of its footprint and determined to contribute to a fairer, more sustainable and collaborative world.

In the last two months, our company has been present at two key moments for raising awareness and sharing knowledge between national and international sectors.

On 10 April 2025, NAU21 celebrated UN Global Compact’s 25th anniversary. It was a day of deep reflection and crucial updates on today's most pressing issues, with special emphasis on the transformative role of companies. Currently, only 17 per cent of the Sustainable Development Goals are being met, a mere five years from the end of the 2030 Agenda. This alarming figure demands immediate action: it is imperative to align practices with real impact, strengthen continuous monitoring and cultivate a culture of transversal responsibility.

This meeting was also marked by the harsh reality behind our consumption patterns, both individual and corporate. An uncomfortable but necessary truth that reinforces the conviction that sustainability and competitiveness are not opposing concepts: they are inseparable synonyms for long-lasting success.

On 12 May 2025, NAU21 was present at ESG Week at the Time Out Studio in Lisbon to attend first-hand crucial debates on the great challenges of Sustainable Development, framed within the ESG pillars - Environmental, Social, Governance. It was a day of active listening and plural learning, where topics such as the ethics of Artificial Intelligence, the risks of digital communication (including misinformation and algorithmic manipulation), the impact of technology on communities and demographic ageing were addressed with clarity, depth and critical sense.

The first day of ESG Week stood out for its wealth of perspectives and the quality of the interventions, offering participants real cognitive diversity, which is essential for rethinking practices and strengthening our commitment as agents of change.

Two unique moments, full of knowledge and reflection, which we take with us with the desire to translate them into action. At NAU21, we believe that Sustainable Development, as defined by the Brundtland Commission, ‘meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’ – an inspirational guiding principle to our collective journey.
